Zagreb has 7 Christmas markets in our directory. Confirmed 2026 dates: Advent in Zagreb (7 sites), 28 Nov 2026 – 7 Jan 2027. Last season most opened around 29 Nov and the last one closed on 7 Jan 2026; 7 stayed open after Christmas. All are free to enter.
Advent in Zagreb was voted the best Christmas market in Europe three years running (2016–2018) in the European Best Destinations poll. The whole city centre turns into a festival — from Ban Jelačić Square and the Zrinjevac park with its music pavilion to the Upper Town, the Strossmayer Promenade and the ice park on King Tomislav Square.
Look for fritule (small doughnuts), grilled sausages and kuhano vino (mulled wine). There are concerts most evenings, and many stalls stay open until early January.
Sorted by opening date. Dates shown are from the 2025–26 season unless 2026 dates are marked — check the official website before you go.
