When are the Prague Christmas markets in 2026?

Prague has 9 Christmas markets in our directory. Confirmed 2026 dates: Old Town Square Christmas Market (Staromestske namesti), 28 Nov 2026 – 6 Jan 2027; Wenceslas Square (Václavské namesti), 28 Nov 2026 – 6 Jan 2027. Last season most opened around 25 Nov and the last one closed on 6 Jan 2026; 2 stayed open after Christmas. All are free to enter.

Prague's Christmas markets fill the city's two great squares: the Old Town Square, with its giant tree in front of the Týn Church and the Astronomical Clock, and Wenceslas Square in the New Town. Smaller markets pop up at Náměstí Míru beneath the Church of St Ludmila, at Republic Square and near Prague Castle.

Stalls sell wooden toys, glass and ceramics, and plenty of food: grilled sausages, roast ham, svařák (mulled wine) and the chimney cake trdelník. The big markets usually carry on into the first days of January, so Prague is a good choice if you're travelling between Christmas and New Year.
